Sometimes a collaboration does not begin with a planned project, but with a moment.
One year ago, Glenda and Stephan visited the Knotenpunkt exhibition at Affenfaust Galerie in Hamburg. It was one of those evenings when you are not looking for something specific, yet something suddenly stays with you. Among many works, one piece stood out immediately: an artwork by The Cameron Twins, a London-based duo.
It was vivid in colour, but not loud in feeling. Playful, direct, slightly raw, with an energy of its own. A work that did not need much explanation. We bought it and placed it in our office — right by the entrance, where we see it every day.
That evening, Marcus Schild also introduced us to Abigail and Phebe Cameron. The encounter felt open, relaxed and natural. No grand gesture, no constructed moment — simply a genuine meeting with two artists whose work had its own unmistakable language.
The Cameron Twins are identical twins and work as an artist duo in London. Their world is shaped by intense colour, childhood memories, toys, nostalgia, duplication and subtle disruption. In their studio in South East London, they create silkscreen prints, installations and objects through a process closely connected to their identity as twins.
Towards the end of the year, we began to think that this very artwork could become a beautiful scarf motif. Not as classic merchandise, not as a simple print, but as a translation into another material. A work of art leaving the frame and taking on a new closeness.
Cashmere felt like the right medium. Soft, light, warm and intimate. A material that does not remain at a distance, but is worn close to the body. The expressive visual world of The Cameron Twins meets the quiet materiality of STEPHAN BOYA.
Through Marcus, we got back in touch with Abigail and Phebe. They were immediately excited by the idea. This is how the collaboration came to life: personal, direct and without anything forced.
The Cameron Twins X Boya felted scarf is a limited piece made from woven and felted cashmere. Its motif is based on the original artwork that still hangs in our office today. For us, the scarf is more than an accessory. It is a memory of an encounter, an image, a place — and the moment when art became cashmere.
At the end of August, Abigail and Phebe will return to Hamburg for the next Knotenpunkt exhibition. For us, this brings the story full circle: from the first meeting at Affenfaust Galerie to a shared piece that brings art and cashmere together in its own distinctive way.
